I tend to keep busy and thankfully my wonderful husband and two awesome kids (adults) support me in all I do, they are my heart. I love lifting weights, carrying heavy stuff, pushing my body, and having fun. It probably all started with two older brothers who I was constantly trying to keep up with. I was exposed to many sports growing up, but my favorites ended up being CrossFit, running, volleyball, and martial arts. From early on I had the desire to stay strong and healthy through life and thought if I started when I was young I would have a better chance. I started reading books, as there was no internet in the stone age. The first to fall on my lap were yoga, calisthenics, and vegetarianism which was not so popular back then. Even with this desire, I struggled with body image and self-acceptance that began at a young age and later led to an eating disorder. I did not have a healthy relationship with food, and it has taken time, trial and error, and education to learn healthy eating and nutrition. I stayed active throughout the years with at-home workouts and volleyball. In 2014 I began leading online fitness/healthy eating challenge groups where I discovered the joy of helping others with meal planning, accountability, and motivation. It fueled me to see their success. In 2018 when our son was looking for a fitness avenue, he and I decided to try CrossFit and we found CrossFit 4042. I was apprehensive but after a few WODs, I was hooked. Through my CrossFit journey, I have learned the importance of the foundations and proper movement from the very beginning. My own imbalances led me to a fitness physical therapist, Barbell Rehab, and additional education. All of this prompted that desire to help others and the certifications began. I started with a personal trainer certification, followed by my CF level 1 coaching certificate in spring 2021 so that I could coach a Phoenix CrossFit class at 4042. All of this has led me to coach at 4042 where I am so excited to help others reach for and hit their goals.
There have been many turning points in my life, both wonderful and challenging, but the one that saved my life, when I didn’t want it saved, was when I admitted I had the disease of addiction and sought help. It had consumed my life and health. I now live a life of recovery and strive for daily wellness in mind, body, and spirit. Living sober is the most amazing gift I have ever been given and I do my best to pass it on to others.

Although I have many tools, CrossFit, and other forms of fitness are a part of my recovery, helping with all areas of my life. I had been in CrossFit for a few years when I learned about The Phoenix and was able to combine fitness and sobriety in a community setting. Wanting to help, I earned my L1 to begin coaching a Phoenix class at CrossFit 4024 who opened their doors to us with full support and acceptance.

Recovery is not something I can do on my own, if someone reads this and is standing at a similar turning point, I am happy to share my experience.
You are amazing and capable of more than you know!
I get so pumped up when I get to be a part of another’s fitness journey and share my joy for CrossFit. Seeing our athletes do things they never thought they could do, push past their own boundaries, and become stronger both physically and mentally is amazing to witness. I want to meet each athlete where they are and help them to move efficiently, providing encouragement, motivation, and direction as they work for and attain their goals.
